1965 FIA MGB Competition Car – New Build

Built by MG Motorsport and supplied with a new FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP), this MGB has been prepared to 1965 Period F specification and is eligible for FIA historic racing, hill climbs and a wide range of UK and European historic race series.

The car has recently undergone a comprehensive rebuild by MG Motorsport and is offered with a freshly built engine which has completed only its initial running-in. It is ready for final preparation and competition use. The current FIA HTP confirms the car as a Period F (1962–1965) MGB in FIA Class GTS11.

The engine has been built by MG Motorsport around a crack-tested and line-honed original block, bored to 1845cc.

Engine specification includes:

– Steel billet crankshaft

– Steel competition connecting rods

– JE forged pistons

– MGM full race camshaft

– Modified followers

– Heavy-duty competition bearings

– Steel flywheel

– Competition clutch

– Fully balanced rotating assembly

– Peter Burgess full-race cylinder head

– Weber 45 DCOE carburettor

– Large-bore Maniflow exhaust system

– Facet Red Top fuel pump

– Malpassi fuel pressure regulator

– 80-litre foam-filled aluminium fuel tank

– All components are new apart from the original block and cylinder head.

Gearbox:

– The gearbox retains its original casing and has been rebuilt by MG Motorsport with a new close-ratio four-speed SCCR gear set.

– The rear axle features a 4.1:1 crown wheel and pinion with a 3J plated limited-slip differential, together with new EN24 axle ends and the usual race modifications.

Suspension and Brakes:

The suspension has been rebuilt throughout using MG Motorsport components, including:

– Rebuilt lever-arm dampers front and rear

– Adjustable rear dampers

– Competition springs

– Uprated anti-roll bar

– SuperPro polyurethane bushes

– The car sits on MG Motorsport Minator wheels fitted with Dunlop Racing 5.50L x 14 tyres.

– Brakes are new throughout, with race calipers, discs and pads at the front, together with relined rear shoes and competition wheel cylinders.

Body and Interior:

– The body has been completely refinished in British Racing Green, including the engine bay, boot compartment and interior.

– The bonnet and boot lid are aluminium, while the works hardtop is currently finished in red but can be supplied in an alternative colour if required.

Further work includes:

– New windscreen

– Polycarbonate side and rear windows

– New seals and exterior trim

– Refinished crackle dashboard

– New wiring loom

– New 8,000rpm rev counter

– Detachable Moto-Lita steering wheel

– The cockpit is equipped with:

– Tillett B6 Screamer FIA seat

– Lifeline Copse six-point harness

– Lifeline plumbed-in fire extinguisher system

– FIA-specification welded-in roll cage

– Panoramic competition mirror

– FIA Documentation & Eligibility

– The car is supplied with a new FIA Historic Technical Passport (HTP) issued by Motorsport UK, confirming eligibility as: Period F (1962–1965), FIA Class GTS11.
